Getting started
- Open Home and select Save.
- Write naturally: a task, appointment, idea or memory.
- Tap the round confirmation button.
- Switch to Ask whenever you want to retrieve something.
You do not need to create folders or choose tags before saving.
Frequently asked questions
Where are my notes stored?
The main database is stored on your device. With a local engine, classification, search and answers are processed on the device.
Does it need internet access?
Local models may need internet for their first download. After that, their features can be used offline. Apple Private Cloud Compute, OpenAI and OpenRouter require internet access.
How do I choose the AI model?
In Settings, keep automatic selection or choose a local Qwen model compatible with device memory. After its initial download it can work offline. Qwen is not offered below 6 GB RAM.
Apple local uses the system model only when available. It is not a Pro purchase, and Pro cannot make an unsupported device compatible.
Apple Private Cloud Compute is a separate cloud option requiring consent and internet, with an Apple quota independent of Free/Pro. It may send text and context to Apple, so it is not 100% local. It does not require your API key.
External server uses OpenAI or OpenRouter with your own key. It is the alternative on iPhones where no local model fits; in that case the text of your notes and questions does travel to the provider you choose.
Does Free use a worse AI?
No. Free and Pro use the same engines. Pro expands usage and unlocks automations; the intelligence of Free is not reduced.
What does Free include?
Free includes unlimited saves and 7 questions a week, the same compatible engines as Pro, Home, Notes, Calendar, basic reminders and manual context selection. The counter resets every Monday using the device time zone.
Is Pro a subscription?
No. Estratum Pro is a one-time, non-consumable purchase. The App Store shows the price. Local AI has no tokens or per-query cost; optional external providers may apply their own charges.
Why is a note still being classified?
Estratum saves the text first so it cannot be lost, then organizes it. Check that the selected engine is ready and reopen the app. If it persists, contact support without saving the same text again.
Why did I not receive a notification?
Only schedulable items create notifications. Check iOS permissions and confirm the entry has a future date, is not completed and includes a time when needed.
How does Apple Calendar work?
With Pro and your permission, Estratum creates a separate calendar named Estratum and copies its schedule there. It does not import appointments from your other calendars.
Can I correct or delete a classification?
Yes. Open the note from Notes, Calendar, the mental thread or a related answer. You can edit it, complete it, move it to another context or delete it.
Siri capture and the iPad interface
Saving with Siri or Shortcuts preserves text first; Estratum organizes it when opened. Voice and dictation depend on Apple. On iPad, wide windows show thread and writing, notes and detail, or month and agenda side by side. This does not add automatic note syncing between devices.
